EPISODE 154 - God Bless The Child

Previously on DALLAS:

----------Ann told Jimmy that she doesn't want Katherine captured and brought back to Dallas, despite what she and Katelyn did to them.  Privately, Ann was worried that Katherine would reveal the true paternity of Emma's baby.

----------Bobby confronted John Ross on his scheme to buy Cal Archer's refinery.

----------Alex overheard Ann and Emma discussing the fact that Kevin wasn't Logan's father, and the teen decided to us that information against Emma.

----------While meeting Trevor in the park again, Krystina threatened her cousin with dire consequences if he didn't leave her alone.  The two were unaware they were being photographed by a young man who later gave the photos he took of them to Emma.

-----------Alex enlisted Shawn's help in trying to find out who the father of Emma's baby is.

-----------In California, the custody hearing over Jacob begins, with Meg McKenzie Kennedy representing Christopher and Courtney.

-----------Cliff asked Emma to come to work at Stone-Barnes Oil.

-----------Alex and Shawn broke into the cottage at Southfork to go through Emma's things.  When she returns, the boys slip out the back door, but overhear Emma telling her baby that his father lived at Southfork, making Alex believe that John Ross is the baby's father.

-----------Trevor told Brad he wanted out of their plan to bring down John Ross and Krystina, but Brad told him no way.

-----------Realizing they were about to lose the custody case, Adam and Jennifer Reed failed to return to court when the custody hearing resumed after lunch.  Instead, the Reeds picked Jacob up and fled!

Los Angeles County Courthouse....

Christopher, Courtney, Bobby, Ann, Gary, Val, Lucy, along with Chase Gioberti, his father Cole and brother Joseph, are waiting in a room at the Torrance Courthouse in Los Angeles for news of Jacob's whereabouts after news had been received earlier that the child had been picked up by his adoptive parents, Adam and Jennifer Reed, who had apparently fled town with the child after realizing they were about to lose custody to the Ewings.  After the group has waited in virtual silence for a while, Christopher and Courtney's attorney, Meg McKenzie Kennedy, enters the room.

"Meg, has there been any news?"  Christopher asks.

"No, none yet,"  Meg replies.  "But the LAPD and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department have both issued an all points bulletin for the Reeds."

"Oh my God,"  Courtney cries.  "They've taken my little boy."

"What are the chances of them being picked up by nightfall?"  Chase asks.

"Look, I'm not going to lie to any of you,"  says Meg.  "Los Angeles is a big county.  And the Reeds had at least an hour's head start.  But try not to worry.  They WILL be picked up."

"But how long is that gonna take?"  Cole asks.

"Mr. Gioberti, I can't answer that.  All we can do is wait."

"I should've known something like this was gonna happen,"  Christopher says.  "Knowing that the Reeds's adoption of Jacob was illegal and that they were a flight risk, why the hell didn't that judge issue some sort of a restraining order against them, to prevent them from going anywhere near Jacob?"

"I'd like to know the answer to that question myself," says Chase.

"I don't know,"  replies Meg.  "This truly was an oversight on the judge's part."

"An oversight?"  Cole Gioberti asks.  "This was more than a mere oversight.  My grandson has been kidnapped by these people."

"Well I'm not gonna just sit around and do nothing," says an angry Christopher.

"Son, what are you gonna do?"  Bobby asks.

"I'm gonna go out there and look for Jacob myself."

"Christopher, you don't even know where to look,"  Bobby says.  "And just as Meg said, this is a big city and a big county."

"I'm not gonna just sit here.  The longer we wait, the bigger a head start the Reeds are getting with Courtney's son. I have to do something!"

"I'm with you.  I'm coming, too,"  Chase says.

"I don't need or want your help."

"Well, that's just too damned bad, because that's MY son out there, NOT yours!"

"Alright, just stop it,"  Meg says.  "Fighting isn't going to accomplish anything."

"Meg's right,"  Gary Ewing says.  "The most important thing right now is getting that little boy back.  All this petty fighting can wait until later.  Meg, I really think you should call your father."

"You're right,"  Meg says.  She takes out her cell phone and dials her father's number.  "I'll be right back," she say, leaving the room.

"Christopher, Courtney, I know this is hard,"  Gary says.  "But try to stay calm.  If there's anybody who can find the Reeds and Jacob, it's Mack McKenzie."

Everyone  in the room exchanges looks.  Christopher puts his arms around his wife and embraces her.

Southfork....

Krystina walks into the den at Southfork that evening and heads straight to the bar, where she proceeds to pour herself a glass of bourbon.  As she takes a sip, John Ross comes into the foyer.  Seeing his wife at the bar, her back to him. John Ross pauses in the doorway for a moment and watches her, then walks into the room.

"Darlin'," he says.

"Oh, John Ross."

"I went to your office, hopin' we could go to dinner, but Janice said you'd already left Ewing Oil."

"Yeah, I'm sorry, I should've told you I was leaving,"  Krystina says.  "I finished my work for the day, and decided to come home."

"Is everything okay, Krystina?"  John Ross asks.

"Yeah.  Everything's fine.  You want a drink?"

"I'd love one."

Krystina turns around to the bar and pours her husband a glass of bourbon, putting a single piece of ice in, then hands it to him.

"Thank ya, darlin'."

Krystina smiles nervously, then takes another sip of her drink.

"Krystina, you're pregnant,"  John Ross says.  "Should you be drinkin' that?"

"Just one will be fine.  I needed it."

"Any reason why you needed a drink?"

"It was just a long day,"  Krystina says.  She puts her glass down on the bar.  "I'm tired, so I think I'll go upstairs, soak in a nice, warm tub of water, and then go to bed early."

"What about dinner?"  John Ross asks.

"I'm not very hungry."  Krystina walks past her husband and starts to leave the room.

"Krystina, what the hell's really goin' on?"  John Ross asks.

She stops in the doorway, then turns back to face him. "What do you mean?"  She asks nervously.

"I got a call today from Leonard Freeman over at the Longhorn Bank.  I know  about all those withdrawals you been makin', the last one for more'n a million dollars.  Now, darlin', half that money is yours, so you can do whatever the hell you want with it, but, I would like some sort of an explanation as to why you needed that much money at one time.  And all these other recent withdrawals of cash."

"Freeman had no right to call you about that,"  says an irritated Krystina.  "What does he think, because I'm a woman I'm not capable of handling my own affairs.  I WILL be speaking to that bank's branch manager about him."

"Now, just simmer down, darlin',"  John Ross says.  "Freeman is an old friend, and he thought he was doin' me a favor.  Krystina, I told Freeman to let me know if you made anymore big withdrawals from our account, but, on the drive home I did a lotta thinkin'.  I don't wanna spy on my wife, so I decided I was gonna come right out and ask you.  Krystina, I can tell somethin's botherin' you."

Krystina fights back tears.

John Ross walks over to his wife and puts his hands on her shoulders.  "Krystina, what is it?  What's got you this upset?"

"You're right, John Ross.  You're right.  There is something.  Something I've never told you.  It's about my father."

"Well, you know you can tell me anything."

Krystina sighs.  "I thought this was in the past.  Buried and long forgotten.  And it was, until recently."  Krystina walks to the fireplace, pauses a few seconds, then turns back to her husband.  "My father had a younger brother.  My Uncle, Ben Carrington.  When my father and Uncle Ben were young, my grandmother became ill.  She was an invalid, and Uncle Ben was left to care for her while my father was off working, trying to build his future empire. One day, while my grandmother was in Uncle Ben's care, a fire broke out, and my grandmother died.  Uncle Ben was off having an affair with a married woman."

"Darlin', that's terrible,"  says John Ross.

"My grandfather, Tom Carrington, blamed Ben for my grandmother's death,"  Krystina continues.  "He wrote Ben out of his will.  I'm not sure of all the details.  This all happened a long time before I was born.  I don't know whether Ben blamed my father for Tom writing him off, or what, but, Ben became angry and bitter, and he double crossed my father in business.  My father also blamed Ben for his mother's death.  Later, Ben was exiled from the family and he went to Australia.  Ben remained there for many years, until my father's ex-wife Alexis brought him back to Denver to be her partner in some scheme to destroy my father and take everything he had."

"Alexis Colby,"  John Ross says angrily.  "That damned woman sure got around and had her hands in a lot of dirty business."

"Oh, yes, she did, and still does.  Ben helped Alexis take even my parents' home from them.  Eventually, though, my father managed to get everything back they had taken, with the help of Alexis's sister, Caress Morell.  When I was about 2-years-old, Ben risked his life to save my father from a fire at an oil rig, and they reconciled.  Ben later left Denver.  He and my father kept in touch over the years, but, it wasn't until 2004 that Uncle Ben finally came back to Denver.  He brought his 16-year-old son, Trevor, with him.....

FLASHBACK.....Blake Carrington's office at Denver Carrington. summer, 2004....

Krystina opens the door of her father's office at Denver Carrington on a summer day in 2004, and finds a man who looks familiar to her standing there with a teenage boy.

"May I help you?"  Krystina asks.

"Yes, I'm here to see Blake Carrington," the man says.

"Ben,"  says Krystina's father, Blake Carrington, seated at his desk.  "Please, come in."

The man and boy walk into the office.  ""Blake, how wonderful to see you again after all these years," Ben Carrington says, walking over to his brother.

"It's good to see you, as well, Ben,"  says Blake.  "But I didn't expect you to arrive in Denver until sometime next week."

"Well, I completed my business in London earlier than expected, and I wanted to surprise you."  Ben looks at his niece.  "Blake, surely this cannot be little Krystina."

"Yes, Ben, this is Krystina,"  Blake says.

"I can hardly believe it,"  Ben says, smiling at Krystina.  "The last time I saw you, you were just a little girl."

"Hello, Uncle Ben, it's nice to finally meet you after all these years,"  Krystina says, shaking hands with her uncle.

"Blake, your daughter has grown up to be an exceptionally beautiful young woman."

"Yes, she has,"  Blake agrees.  "Krystle and I are very proud.  And this must be your son you spoke so highly of."

"Yes.  Blake, I'd like you to meet my son, Trevor Carrington.  Trevor, this is your Uncle Blake and your cousin, Krystina."

"Hello, Trevor, it's nice to meet you,"  Krystina says.

"Krystina, Uncle Blake," the boy says.  "It's great to meet both of you.  Uncle Blake, I've heard a lot about you from my father."

"Oh, really?"  Blake asks.  "Well, I hope the good you've heard outweighed the bad."

"Let's just say that, you sound like a very interesting man, and one I would rather have as a friend than an enemy."

Blake laughs.  "Ben, I like this boy of yours.  Trevor, you're how old?  16?"

"Yes, sir."

"Well, perhaps in a couple of years we can find a place for you here at Denver Carrington."

"Well, thank you, sir.  I'd like that very much."

*****************************************************************************************************

"That was the first time I ever remembered actually meeting my Uncle,"  Krystina continues.  "And the first time I'd ever seen my cousin.  At first, they seemed really nice, and I saw how happy my father was to have Uncle Ben back in his life, especially at that time.  My father was getting older.  He was well into his 70s, and family was more important to him then than ever.  So, my father and my uncle became close.  Or so I thought.  As for Trevor, well, he revealed himself to be a bit of a sleaze, even at that early age."

"How so?"  John Ross asks.

"Well, believe it or not, he wanted to sleep with me."

"Your own COUSIN?"  John Ross asks, a look of disgust on his face.

"Yeah, well, that's Trevor."

"What happened between your Daddy and Ben, and how come you never mentioned him before?"

"Ben betrayed my father again.  After all those years, Alexis was still out to hurt my father, and again, she seduced Ben into helping her.  Ben stole some company secrets from Denver Carrington, and Trevor helped him.  My father, out of the goodness of his heart, gave Trevor an internship at the company when Trevor turned 17.  Little did we know that the little son of a bitch was spying for his father and Alexis.  Denver Carrington kept losing deals to ColbyCo., and we couldn't figure out why.  Finally, Daddy caught Trevor looking at some classified company papers, and he ordered him out.  He threatened to have Trevor arrested, which angered Ben.  In retaliation, Ben attempted to set my father up.  With the help of a young company employee, Ben tried to gaslight my father."

"Gaslight him.....how?"  John Ross asks.

"One of my father's assistants, a girl named Nancy Davis, was paid by Ben to forge my father's signature on some papers.  When my father didn't remember signing the papers, he began to think that he was losing his memory.  I was very worried about him.  The whole family was.  His signature began to appear on more and more documents, and eventually, my father became so concerned that he went to his doctor.  A series of tests didn't reveal anything wrong, but my father still became convinced that he was getting too old to continue running Denver Carrington, so, he stepped down and handed the reigns of the company over to me in mid-2006.  This is exactly what Ben wanted, because he believed that with my father out of the way and me, a young, inexperienced woman in charge, he could easily step in and take control of the company, especially since my brother Adam was involved in ColbyCo, and Steven had no interest in the company.  Ben offered to help me any way he could.  Of course, what he really wanted was to get close to me so I would trust him, then he would slowly gain more power at Denver Carrington, and then he could take over.  Ben also brought Trevor back into the company to......'help.'  Months went by, and eventually, after Ben had no use for her once he was inside the company, he pushed Nancy aside.  Angry and feeling spurned, she came to me and confessed everything.  She told me what Ben was doing and that she had forged my father's signature.  My father was absolutely FURIOUS.  We put our heads together, and came up with a plan to get rid of Uncle Ben and Trevor once and for all."

"What'd you do?"  John Ross asks.

"My father had a friend who had worked for the state department.  This friend owed my father a few favors, so, Daddy called in those favors and had his friend plant evidence against Ben Carrington that implicated him in selling military secrets to enemies of the United States such as North Korea and Al Queda.  When Ben was confronted with this evidence and threatened with arrest, naturally he denied everything, but, there was solid evidence."

"Evidence planted by your Daddy?"  John Ross asks.

"Yeah.  If arrested and convicted, Ben and Trevor could have spent the rest of their lives in prison.  So, in exchange for staying free, Ben agreed that he and his son would leave the country.......permanently.  My father told Ben that if he ever set foot on U.S. soil again, he would use that evidence against him and have not only him, but Trevor imprisoned."

"So, Ben Carrington and his son Trevor left the country?"

"Yes.  They returned to Australia, my father never saw his brother again, and, neither my father nor I ever wanted anyone to know what we'd done.  Especially not my mother.  She knew that Uncle Ben had betrayed my father in some way, so she was left with the impression that he and Trevor had just left town.  I never thought that I would ever see or hear from either of them again."

"Is that what this is about?"  John Ross asks.  "Ben Carrington back in the country causin' you trouble because of what happened years ago?"

"No,"  replies Krystina.  "Uncle Ben died earlier this year.  But Trevor........he's back.  He's here in Dallas."

"Krystina, has this son of a bitch been blackmailin' you with this?  Is that what's goin' on?  That why you needed all that cash?"

Krystina lowers her head.  After a moment, she looks at John Ross.  "Yes," she replies in tears.  "Trevor said that if I didn't pay him, that he would publicly expose the fact that my father and I framed he and Ben were crime they didn't commit.  John Ross, I couldn't let my late father's reputation be destroyed, and I couldn't let my mother be hurt by this."

"Where the hell is this cousin of yours?"

"I don't know.  He always contacted me.  And, understandably, he would never tell me where he was staying in town."

John Ross takes his cell phone from his pocket and dials a number.

"Who are you calling?"  Krytina asks.

"Just hold on, darlin',"  John Ross tells his wife.  After three rings, the party he is calling answers.  "Bum, I got a job for you,"  John Ross says.  "Somebody I need you to find.  The guy's name is Trevor Carrington.  Yeah, he's Krystina's cousin.  Carrington is stayin' here in Dallas.  I have no idea where, and neither does Krystina.  Chances are, he's usin' an alias.  Bum, I know it's gonna be hard to find this guy without more to go on, but just do it.  I don't know, hold on."  John Ross takes his phone down and turns to his wife.  "Do you have a picture of your cousin?"

"I can get one."

"Good.  See if you can get it tonight or no later than tomorrow mornin',"  John Ross says to her, then returns to his call.  "Bum, come over here first thing in the mornin'.  We'll have a photo of the guy by then."  John Ross ends the call and looks at Krystina.  "You just leave your cousin to me."

"John Ross, what are you going to do?"  Krystina asks.  "If Trevor is pushed, he could expose what my father did."

"Don't you worry, Krystina.  I'll take care of Trevor Carrington and I'll make damned sure he NEVER bothers you again,"  John Ross says.

The home of Gary and Valene Ewing, Knots Landing, California....

Meanwhile, back in Knots Landing, a group consisting of Bobby, Ann, Christopher, Courtney, Lucy, Gary, Val, and Karen McKenzie watch Karen's husband Mack talking on the phone with someone as he paces around Gary and Val's living room.  "Listen, thanks Tom, I really appreciate this, and keep me posted on what's going on.  I wanna know the minute the Reeds are picked up.  Okay, bye."  Mack ends the call and puts his phone away.

"Well, Mack, do you think you'll be able to help Christopher and Courtney?"  Gary Ewing asks his friend.

"Was that the police you were talking to, Mr. McKenzie?"  Courtney asks.  "Are they gonna be able to find my little boy?"

"Well we're sure gonna try,"  Mack replies.  "I was just talking to a friend of mine, Captain Tom Ryan, and the police are doing everything they can to find these people and pick them up.  To, promised me he'd give this case top priority."

"Tom Ryan?"  Gary asks.

"Yeah, Tom Ryan, you remember him, the guy who use to be engaged to my daughter, Paige.  He's a captain in the LAPD now and he owes me a few favors."

"Mr. McKenzie, we can't thank you enough,"  Christopher says.

"Oh, please, call me Mack, and you're very welcome, Christopher.  Don't worry.  We're gonna find your little boy, Courtney."

Courtney looks at Mack and manages a weak smile.  Meanwhile, watching from a few feet away, a sad look crosses Val's face as she sees the pain the younger Mrs. Ewing is in over her missing child.  Fighting back tears, Val turns and walks into the kitchen, Lucy watching her mother, concerned.  Val's best friend and Mack's wife, Karen McKenzie, follows her into the kitchen, finding Val standing at the kitchen sink, staring blankly into space, deep in thought.

"Val,"  Karen says.  "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, I'm just......."

"Thinking about the past, aren't you?  Courtney's situation is bringing back a lot of memories, huh?"

Val turns around to face her friend of many years.  "Yeah.  I know what that girl is going through right now.  The pain and fear that she's feeling that she'll never see her little boy again.  I remember all too well having all three of my children taken from me.  Wondering if I'd ever see them again.  At least when J.R. took Lucy from me, I knew that her grandmother, Miss Ellie, would take good care of her.  But with Bobby and Betsy........I was told they were dead, but I knew in my heart that my babies were alive."

"And thank God, you were right,"  Karen says.

"Until tonight, I hadn't really thought about that in years,"  says Val.  "But seeing the pain Courtney is going through now, it brought it all back.  How awful I felt that terrible night Lucy was ripped from my arms and taken away.  I was denied being able to raise my daughter.  J.R. Ewing is long gone, but, tonight thinking about what he did to me so many years ago........stealing my daughter........I started hating him all over again.  Does that make me a horrible person, Karen?  Hating a dead man?"

"No, of course not.  J.R. caused a lot of pain to a LOT of people during his lifetime, Val.  And, you were the person he probably caused the most pain to, so no, hating him for what he did to you doesn't make you a terrible person.  I hate him for what he did to you, too.  But at least, now you finally have the relationship with Lucy that you missed out on for so many years."

"Yeah,"  Val says with a slight smile.  "I only hope and pray that Courtney doesn't have to wait until her son is an adult to have a relationship with him."

Karen walks over to Val and embraces her friend, neither of them aware that Lucy has been standing in the doorway, tears in her eyes after having heard what her mother said.

Southfork....the next morning....

Krystina comes out of her and John Ross's bathroom early the next morning and finds John Ross on the phone.  She pauses and listens to his end of the conversation.

"Bum, just find Trevor Carrington for me ASAP,"  John Ross says.  "That picture I faxed over to you should help, as well as that phone number he's been usin' to call Krystina.  I don't give a damn if you have to check every hotel and motel in Dallas, just find him, Bum.  This is real important.  When you find Carrington, call me immediately.  I expect to hear from you soon."  John Ross ends the call and puts his phone into his pocket, then looks at his wife.

"I faxed that picture you found of your cousin over to Bum, and texted him the phone number Trevor used when he called you last time.  He's gonna find him, darlin'."

"Thank you, John Ross."

"Krystina, I wish you'd told me about this from the beginning, as soon as Carrington first contacted you."

"I didn't want you to know what I'd helped my father do.  John Ross, if this were to get out and the authorities found out that I was a willing accomplice to my father having false evidence of a federal crime planted on his brother....... I could be in trouble."

"You won't be.  I'll make sure of that, and make damn sure Trevor Carrington never bothers you again."

"I never wanted to drag you into this,"  Krystina says.

"Well, I AM in this, because you're my wife.  And I'll do any damned thing I have to do to protect you."

"I love you so much, John Ross."

"And I love you,"  John Ross says, kissing her.

Meanwhile....

Downstairs, in the guest bedroom, Jimmy is tossing and turning in a restless sleep that morning, suffering a nightmare in which his mind is reliving the horrific events of his kidnapping and subsequent rape at the hands of Katelyn Spencer.  "No,"  Jimmy cries out in his sleep.  "No, please.  Please.....don't.....don't do this....."  A look of pain comes over Jimmy's face in his sleep as his body continues to toss and turn.  "NO!"  He cries again, this time louder than before.  "DON'T.....DON'T.....NOOOOO!!!!"   Jimmy screams as he sits bolt upright in bed, his face and body

drenched in sweat, tears running down his cheeks.  He is breathing hard.  For a few seconds, he looks around the room, at first, his mind so confused he has to think to remember where he is.  Finally, he realizes that he is safe in bed in the guest room at Southfork.  But Jimmy feels anything but safe.  Even though he is safe, his ordeal is far from over.  To Jimmy, the horror he endured will never be over as long as Katelyn Spencer and Katherine Wentworth are on the loose.  Jimmy lays his head back down on his pillow.  But as soon as he closes his eyes, visions of Katelyn once again haunt his mind.  Unable to go back to sleep, he sits up in bed.  He begins to cry.  After almost an entire minute of sitting on the bed, his knees drawn up to his chest in a fetal position, Jimmy gets out of bed.  He pauses briefly, then leaves the room.

One hour later....

Jimmy is in the exercise room at Southfork an hour later, lifting weights as he tries to get his nightmare off his mind.  While Jimmy continues to lift, Alex walks into the exercise room.

"Hey, man," Alex says.

"Well, I mean, it's kinda nice to hang out with you,"  says Alex.  "And, I was hoping we could talk."

"Okay, so what's up?  You got some kinda problem or something?"

"Not exactly,"  Alex replies as he takes off his shirt and walks over to one of the exercise machines.   "I was just

"Alex,"  Jimmy says, giving his cousin a brief look, but continuing to lift.

"You, umm, you mind some company?"  Alex asks.

"Not at all.  Help yourself."

"Thanks.  I'm actually kinda glad you're here."

"Really?"  Jimmy asks.  "Why's that?"

kinda wondering.  You and Emma Ryland.  You've been spending an awful lot of time with her lately, haven't you?"

"I guess you could say that.  Why do you ask?"

"Just curious,"  Alex says.  "So are you guys like.......dating?"

"No, of course not.  Emma just lost her fiance not that long ago.  We're friends."

"Oh, I see.......friends."

"That's right,"  says Jimmy.

"What about Emma's little boy?  She ever talk much about his father?"

"Yeah, sometimes, but not a lot.  She was about to marry Kevin Channing, and the guy was killed in a horrible accident.  Emma's still grieving for him."

"So, Emma actually TOLD you that Kevin Channing was her son's father?"  Alex asks.

Jimmy places the weights back into their slots and sits up, looking curiously at his teenage cousin.  "Alex, what's really up?  Why all these questions about Emma and her son?

"Like I said, just curious."

"No, no, no, this is more than just being curious,"  says Jimmy.  "So come on, tell me.  Why are you asking me all these questions about Emma and her son, and I want you to tell me the truth."

"Dude, it's nothing.  I was just curious about her, that's all.  Wondering how long she was gonna stick around here.  I mean, you seem to like her, and, I was just kinda thinking that you and Emma should get together."

"Alex, why would you care

if Emma Ryland and I got together or not?  So come on, man.  Tell me the truth here.  Why all this sudden interest in Emma?"

"You do know that Emma had an affair with John Ross, right?"  Alex asks.  "Back when he was married to Pamela Barnes?"

"Yeah, I do know that.  Alex, are you saying you think Emma might make another play for John Ross now?"

"Dude, it's JUST the kind of thing she would do.  Emma's alone now, and with a kid.  That's why I was kinda hoping that you and she were.......seeing each other."

"Well, we're not,"  Jimmy says.

"But you like her, right?"

"Sure, I like her.  Emma's a nice girl and she's been through a lot."

"Then why not ask her out?"

"Alex, just stop,"  Jimmy says.  "Look, man, first of all, Emma has no interest in John Ross or in causing trouble between him and Krystina.   Second of all, Emma just lost the man that she was gonna marry.  The father of her child.  She's not ready for another relationship right now, and after the hell that I just went through, I'm not looking for one, either, so if you're asking me to try and lure Emma into a relationship to keep her away from John Ross, you can forget it.  I have enough problems of my own right now without playing these little games." Jimmy stands to his feet and quickly makes his exit from the room.

Alex sighs in frustration, realizing that, without Jimmy's help, he'll have to find another way to get rid of Emma Ryland.

Sue Ellen's home....

"Thank you,"  Sue Ellen tells Catlin after he hands her a cup of coffee she sits at a table on the patio of her home later.

"You are welcome, my dear,"  Catlin says, taking a seat across from her.

"Such a beautiful day.  But, you can tell that Fall is just around the corner."

"I know.  I love Fall.  It's my favorite time of year."

"Mine too,"  Sue Ellen says, taking a sip of her coffee.  "And this Fall is going to be wonderful.  Especially now that C.J. is recovering and Peter Love is locked up behind bars, where he belongs."

Catlin sighs.  "Yeah.  Now, we just have to get Love's trial behind us.  But, unfortunately, this isn't over yet.  My son is gonna be living with the fall out of Peter Love for a very long time to come."

The smile disappears from Sue Ellen's face.  She puts her coffee down on the table and reaches over to take Catlin's hand.   "I'm sorry, I didn't think of that."

"It's going to be a hard adjustment for C.J., knowing he has a half-brother.  Knowing that his mother was not the woman he thought she was.  It was bad enough, him knowing that Brittany abandoned the two of us, but knowing she had an affair with Peter Love and gave birth to his child.  That's been hard for even me to take, I can't imagine how my son must feel."

"Your son is a very strong young man, and he has you to thank for that,"  says Sue Ellen.  "And he also has a lot of support."

Catlin looks at her and smiles as he holds her hand.  "You are the most amazing woman I have ever known, Sue Ellen.  The love you've shown to my son, and to me........"

"I do love you.  I love you both."

"And I love you,"  Catlin says.  "And, I want more than anything to make a life with you.  Sue Ellen, this may not be the right time for me to bring this up, but, we haven't even talked about a wedding."

"Well, with everything that's happened, we had other things going on."

"Yes, and hopefully, all that stuff is behind us,"  says Catlin.  "So now, I think it's time for us to be thinking about our wedding.  I can't wait to make you my wife."

Sue Ellen smiles.  "Hmmm.......Sue Ellen Shepard Ewing Lockwood Ewing Ewing."

Catlin laughs.  "Has a nice ring to it."

"Yes, it does."

"So, Sue Ellen, we need to set a date.  When do you wanna do this?  When do you wanna become Mrs. Ewing...... again?"

"Well, how does Christmas Eve sound?"  Sue Ellen asks.

"Christmas Eve?"

"I know that Christmas Eve is still quite a while away, but, I can't think of a more perfect day for us to get married.  I did think about asking Bobby and Ann if we could have the wedding at the Ewing Barbecue in late Fall, but......."

"But you and J.R, did get married at Southfork both times, right?"  Catlin asks.

"Yes, we did, and, then there's the Southfork wedding jinx."

"The what?"  Catlin asks with a slight laugh.

"The Southfork wedding jinx.  No marriage that begins with a wedding at Southfork ends up lasting, or being very happy.  And sometimes, they even end tragically.  There was both my marriages to J.R.  Then Bobby and Pam's second marriage ended in tragedy.  Lucy and Mitch.  J.R. and Cally.  Bobby and April.  Christopher and Pamela.  John Ross and Pamela.  And, even Justin and Amanda.  All of those couples married at the ranch, and all ended badly.  I do NOT want to take that chance with you."

"I never knew you were superstitious,"  Catlin says, moving his chair closer to hers.  "But ya know what?  It's kind of cute.  So......Christmas Eve, it is."

"Wonderful,"  says Sue Ellen.  "We can be married right here, in our living room."

"OUR living room?"

"Of course.  Catlin, this is your home, too.  And C.J.'s for as long as he wants it,"  Sue Ellen says.

"I take back what I said.  You are NOT the most amazing woman I've ever known."

"What?"  Asks a surprised Sue Ellen.

"You, Sue Ellen Ewing, are the most amazing woman in the whole world,"  Catlin replies, kissing her.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital....

C.J. is laying in bed in his hospital room watching television early in the afternoon when someone knocks on his door.  "Come in," he says.  He is surprised when Eric Love walks into the room.

"Does that apply to me?"  Eric asks.

C.J. looks at his half-brother for a few seconds.  "Sure."

Eric walks into the room and closes the door behind him.  "How are you?"

"On the mend,"  C.J. says.  "Doctor said I can go home tomorrow."

"That.....that's great, man, I'm really happy to hear that."

C.J. looks at the other young man standing before him.  "I've been rehearsing in my mind what I was gonna say when I was finally able to see you.  And now that you're here, I can't think of the first thing to say."

"That makes two of us,"  says Eric.  "I guess I'd like to start by saying how sorry I am for my father did to you.  I just.......I just can't believe I never knew what kind of man my own father was.  Or that I never knew who my mother was."

"Like you just said......that makes two of us.  Obviously I never knew my own mother.  OUR mother."

Eric takes a seat by C.J.'s bed.  "I can't believe it.  We're brothers."

"When I was growing up, I always wanted a little brother,"  C.J. says.  "I just never expected to get one like this."

"Yeah, me neither.  What was she like, C.J.? Brittany.  Our mother."

"I really can't answer that.  It seem I don't know what she was like, either."

"But, you were with her most of your life,"  Eric says.

"That doesn't mean I knew the woman.  Obviously, I didn't.  I didn't even know she  had another son, or that she tried to pass me off as Peter Love's child when she was pregnant with me.  It's like our mother was two different people, living two very different lives."

"C.J., where do we go from here?  You and I?"  Eric asks, standing to his feet.

"I really don't know.  Eric, you seem like a nice enough guy, and the fact is we ARE brothers.  But, to be honest, when I look at you, I'm reminded of what my mother did to me and to my Dad.  How she cheated on him with your father, and then later walked out on us.  And I'm reminded that it was your father who murdered her in cold blood."

"I guess that's fair enough,"  Eric says.  "I really don't know how to feel about you, either.  C.J., I'm really sorry that you lost your mother.  I may not have ever known Brittany, but, I lost her, too.  Only difference between you and I is........at least you still have your father.  I don't have either of my parents anymore.  Or a brother either, I guess."  Fighting back tears, Eric walks to the door, then pauses and turns back to C.J.  "Take care," he says, his voice shaky, then leaves the room.

After his brother leaves, C.J. also fights back tears, as Eric's visit has opened up a lot of painful emotions C.J. realizes he will have to deal with now, emotions about his mother and the life she led, and emotions about his newly discovered brother.

Southfork....afternoon

As John Ross is coming down the stairs at Southfork, his cell phone rings.  Taking his phone from his pocket he looks at his phone, then answers.  "Bum, what's up?  You found Trevor Carrington yet?  Well why the hell not?"

Meanwhile....

"I'm doing my best, John Ross,"  Bum says.  "I've been checking every cheap motel in Dallas since you sent me that photo this morning.  I figured if he wanted to keep a lower profile, Carrington probably wouldn't be staying at some place like the Omni or the Hilton.  But so far, no luck, and that cell phone number you gave me for Carrington is no longer in service."

"Yeah, Krystina told me he always called her from a different number."

"The guy was bein' smart by doin' that.  He's probably got several burner phones that can't be easily traced.  But I did manage to find some pretty interesting background on your wife's cousin.  Trevor Carrington was involved in some pretty shady business dealings in Australia, along with his father, Ben Carrington."

Southfork....

"I kinda figured that was the case, after what Krystina told me about the guy,"  John Ross says.  "Bum, you just find him. I already told you how important this is to me, and to my wife."

"I'm gonna keep workin' at it, John Ross. I'll be in touch."

"Thank ya, Bum.  Make it soon."  John Ross ends the call and puts his phone away.  As he is about to walk into the living room, he meets Emma coming into the foyer.

"John Ross, hello," she says.

"I couldn't help but overhear part of your phone conversation."

"Didn't anybody ever tell you it's not polite to eavesdrop on private conversations?"

"I wasn't eavesdropping,"  Emma says.  "I was about to head upstairs to pick up my son and take him back to the cottage with me, and I heard you on the phone.  I didn't wanna interrupt."

"So instead you just stood in the door listenin'."

"Like I said, I couldn't help it."

"I'll see ya, Emma,"  John Ross says, walking past her and into the living room.

"You're looking for someone?  That's why you were talking to Bum?  Someone who's bothering Krystina?"

John Ross stop and turns back to her.  "Emma, this is really none of your damned business."

"You're right, it's not,"  Emma says with a smile.  "But, I might be able to help."

"Now just how could you help me?"

"Come with me to the cottage and I'll show you."

"Sorry, darlin'.  I'm a happily married man, and this time, I intend to remain totally faithful to my wife, so I will never need THAT kind of help from you again."

"That WASN'T what I was talking about,"  Emma says, slightly annoyed that John Ross had misunderstood her intentions.

"Alright, then, tell me.  How can you help me?"

"Come with me,"  Emma says.  "And, I promise......I'll behave."

John Ross hesitates.

"Do you wanna find this man you're looking for, or not?"

John Ross again hesitates, then reluctantly follows Emma out of the house.  A few minutes later, Jimmy is working

and Emma go into the cottage together.  Alex had been riding his skateboard on the road near the cottage and saw them as well.  Alex is more determined than ever to get rid of Emma Ryland and her infant son.

Meanwhile....

at one of the stables when he happens to look up and sees Emma with John Ross, walking to the cottage.  A curious and shocked Jimmy watches as John Ross and Emma go into the cottage and close the door behind them.  Could Alex have been right about Emma?  However, Jimmy isn't the only one who saw John Ross

John Ross follows Emma into the cottage and waits for her as she goes to her bed, opens picks up her bag and opens it.  She pulls out a folder and walks over to John Ross with it.  "So, you're looking for this man who's bothering your wife?"  She asks.

"Emma, what the hell's this all about?  You got somethin' to say, then say it."

"This may help,"  Emma replies, handing John Ross the folder.

He takes it, opens it, and sees the photo Emma's friend had taken of Krystina and Trevor a few days earlier.

"Emma, where the hell did you get these?"  John Ross asks.

"A friend of mine took them.  A few days ago, Jimmy and I were in the park in Dallas, and we saw your wife there with some guy.  The guy in the photo.  So, I called a friend of mine and asked him to follow Krystina."

"And why would you do that?"

"Because I care about you. John Ross, and I don't wanna see you hurt."

"So, you hired some guy to spy on my wife?"

"John Ross, after everything that happened between us, I do still care about you,"  Emma says.  "And, I do owe you.  You did risk your life to save mine once, you know.  So if you wanna find out who this guy is and why he's been meeting secretly with your wife, maybe this can help."

"I already know who he is and why he's been meetin' with Krystina."

"Really?"

"Yes, and it's not what you think.  This guy is Trevor Carrington, and he's Krystina's cousin.  He's a no account who's been after money from her."

"Her cousin?"  Asks a shocked Emma.  "Oh.....wow, I thought......"

"Yeah, I know what you thought."

"Well, ummmm, my friend might be able to help you find Krystina's cousin.  I had him follow Trevor."

"You really wanna pay me back for savin' your life three years ago?"  John Ross ask.  "Then get your friend on the phone and find out where Carrington is stayin'."

Emma walks over to the bed and picks up her cell phone and dials the number of her friend, Tyler, as John Ross watches her.

Knots Landing, California....Gary and Valene Ewing's home....

Valene Ewing is in her kitchen that afternoon making stirring something in a glass baking dish when her daughter Lucy walks in.  Val's back is to the door so she doesn't hear her daughter come into the room.  Lucy watches her mother for a moment.

"Mama,"  she finally says.

Val turns to her and smiles.  "Lucy, I didn't hear you come in."

"I know.  What are you making there?"

"Apple fritters,"  Val replies.  "Everybody's so upset about Courtney's son, that, well, I needed something to do and I kind of figured everyone would be hungry."

"Apple fritters,"  Lucy says with a smile.  "I haven't had one of those in years.  I didn't know you knew how to make those."

"Oh yes.  Your grandmother, my mother, use to make these."

"Really?"  Lucy asks.  "My other Grandma use to make them, too.  She tried to teach me how once, but, that didn't work out so well."

Val looks at her daughter with a serious expression.  "It should've been me teaching you how to cook," she says, quickly looking away.

"Mama, I understand.  I know why you couldn't be there for me when I was growing up.  I overheard you last night when you were talking to Karen.  I heard what you said, about J.R., and about me.  About how what Courtney is going through now brings back the pain of how you felt when I was taken."

"It's been so many years,"  Val says.  "Seems like a lifetime ago, but, the pain of losing you is as fresh in my mind today as it was then.  My hope and prayer is that Courtney won't have to go through what I went through, and what Ann went through with her daughter."

"My heart goes out to her,"  Lucy says.  "But at the same time, Courtney is lucky to have had the chance to bear a child.  Not all of us have had that joy."

Val looks at her daughter.  "Lucy, what's wrong?  Somehow, I have this feeling that your sadness is more than watching Courtney's pain."

"I suppose I'm just regretting choices I made.  Never having children or a family."  Lucy begins to cry and turns away from her mother.  Val walks over and puts both hands on Lucy's shoulders.

"Darlin', you've had a full life.  You've done a lot of things in your life."

Lucy turns to face her.  "Like what?  Modeling?  That was a joke.  I ran an art gallery in Europe for years.  But what have I really done with my life.  None of my relationships have ever worked out, including two marriages to the same man.  And I wasted my chance at motherhood.  The only chance I would ever have."

"Lucy, what do you mean by that?"  Val asks.

"Mama, there's something I've never told you.  It happened when you and I weren't really a part of each others' lives."

"Tell me."

Lucy wipes her tears.  "I was pregnant once.  In 1982."

"Lucy, why didn't you tell me this?  You and Mitch, you were going to have a baby?"

"No,"  Lucy replies in tears.  "The baby wasn't Mitch's, although I wished to God it was."

"What happened?  You had a miscarriage?"

"No.  No, Mama, I had an abortion."

Val looks at her daughter in shock.  "An abortion?  Lucy......"

"I was raped, Mama.  This photographer I was working with, he, he went crazy, and he kidnapped me and raped me."

"Oh my God, Lucy.  That must have been horrible.  Lucy, I'm so sorry.  I'm sorry I wasn't there for you."

"It's okay, Mama.  Only a handful of people ever knew what happened.  Bobby and Pam and my best friend from high school, Muriel, were the only ones who knew for many years."

"Miss Ellie....."

"No.  She never knew about the rape or the abortion.  She died not knowing."

"Oh, Lucy,"  a tearful Val cries as she embraces her daughter.  Just then, the doorbell rings.

Gary Ewing comes down the stairs, followed by Bobby, Christopher, and Courtney.  Gary opens the door and Mack McKenzie walks in.

"Hi, Gare,"  Mack says.  "Christopher and Courtney, I'm glad you're here."

"You have some news?"  Christopher asks.

"Yeah, a couple fitting the description of Adam and Jennifer Reed  checked into a motel in Escondido, a town about 30 miles northeast of San Diego, early this morning.  And guess what.........a car with Adam Reed's license plate was found just outside of town."

"Then it has to be them,"  Bobby says.

"Yeah, so come on,"  Mack says.  "I asked the cops down there not to approah the Reeds, but to keep an eye on them, and stop them if they tried to leave.  So let's go.  I called the airport and chartered a plane to fly us to Escondido."

"Let's go, then,"  Christopher says.

"I'm coming to,"  says Bobby.

As the group heads out the door, Ann comes down the stairs.  "Bobby, what's goin' on?  Where are you all goin'?"

"Honey, the cops have found the Reeds,"  replies Bobby.  "They's in a town called Escondido."

"Well, I'm comin' with you,"  Ann says, quickly following the others out.

"Bobby, keep us posted!"  Gary yells to his brother as Bobby and the others get into Mack's car.

"We will, Gary!"  Bobby yells back.  Gary watches as Mack's car speeds away.

Dallas....

Trevor Carrington is packing a suitcase in his apartment in Dallas that afternoon.  He quickly zips the suitcase shut, then grabs a smaller travel bag from the bed.  Taking the suitcase in the other hand, Trevor hurries to the front door of his apartment and opens it to find John Ross standing there, as if waiting for him.  A look of fear comes over Trevor's face.

"Well, well,"  says John Ross.  "Trevor Carrington.  You goin' somewhere, cousin-in-law?"

"Umm, do I know you?"  Trevor asks, his heart pounding inside his chest.

"You know damned well who I am,"  John Ross says, forcing his way into the apartment and  closing the door.  "But in case your tiny little brain has forgotten, I'm John Ross Ewing, Krystina's husband."

"What are you doing here?"

"Now is that any way to greet the man who holds your life in his hands?"  John Ross asks.

"What......what do you mean?  Look, I was just leaving."

"Uh-uh.  You're not goin' anywhere, just yet.  Not til we talk.  You been harassing my wife and milkin' money outta her over somethin' that happened years ago.  And I don't like that, Carrington.  I don't like that one bit."

"Yeah, well Krystina deserves it,"  Trevor says, his fear now replaced by anger.  "Krystina and that father of hers destroyed my father.  Drove him into exile."

"From what I hear, Ben Carrington deserved everything Blake did to him.  He tried to ruin Blake's comp'ny.  Tried to make him think he was goin' crazy, his own brother.  But that's ancient history.  My concern is here and now, and what you been doin' to my pregnant wife."  Without warning, John Ross grabs Trevor by the throat and forcefully shoves him against the wall, Trevor falling to the floor, dropping his suitcase and travel bag beside him.  John Ross walks over and looks down at the young man.  "Carrington, you're damned lucky I know how to control my temper.  Otherwise, I'd kill you right now with my bare hands.  But it so happens that I don't think you're worth that, even though I'd never get caught.  I could make sure no body was ever found, but I'm not gonna do that.  Instead, I'm gonna make you disappear."

"Disappear?  What do you mean?"

John Ross grabs Trevor and pulls him to his feet.  "I mean what I say.  You, Carrington, are gonna be leavin' the United States, and you're never gonna set foot in this country again.  Not on any U.S. soil, not even Puerto Rico.  Because if you do, I'll make you wish for a life sentence in prison."

"You're crazy, Ewing,"  Trevor says.  "You lay one hand on me, I'll make sure Krystina's dirty little secret is exposed.  Your wife helped her Daddy commit a crime, and I'll send her to prison.  How would you like to have your kid born in prison, Ewing?"

Unable to control his anger any longer, John Ross grabs Trevor by the throat and forces him against the wall, choking him.  Trevor struggles against John Ross's grip and struggles to breath.  Just then, the door opens and Krystina walks in with Bum.

"John Ross!"  Krystina yells.  "John Ross, STOP!"

"Let him go, John Ross,"  says Bum.

John Ross ignores their pleas and continues to choke Trevor, the color draining from Trevor's face. Krystina runs over and grabs her husband's arm.

"JOHN ROSS, STOP IT!  YOU'RE GONNA KILL HIM!"  She yells.

"John Ross!"  Bum says.

Finally, John Ross releases Trevor from his grip, Trevor falling to the floor in a crumpled heap, struggling to catch his breath as he coughs.

"Carrington, you are DAMNED lucky my wife came in when she did,"  John Ross says.

"You......you're crazy!"  Trevor says, holding his throat.  "I'll see you in jail for this, Ewing.  You tried to kill me."

"Do you want me to let him finish?"  Krystina asks.

Bum walks over, grabs Trevor, and pulls him to his feet.  "The only one goin' anywhere.....is you,"  Bum says.  "Let's go."

"Wait, where are you taking me?"  Trevor asks.

"You're leaving the country.  This time for good,"  Bum says.

"Carrington, if you EVER set foot on U.S. soil again, or if you ever contact my wife or any member of my or her fam'ly again........prison will look like a vacation in the tropics compared to the hell I'll put you through."

"Come on, Carrington,"  Bum says.

"Wait!"  Trevor says.  "Don't you even wanna know why?  Krystina, aren't you curious why I came back after all this time?"

"I know exactly why,"  Krystina says.  "Money.  You're a greedy, blackmailing, backstabbing son of a bitch."

"Maybe I am.  But that's not why.  And I'm sure as hell not gonna go down for this alone.  Not without paying back the man who made me do this."

"What are you talking about?"  Krystina asks.  "Who, Trevor?  Are you saying that someone forced you to blackmail me?"

"That's exactly what I'm saying.  This guy who has a vendetta against you and your husband did some digging into your past, and he found me in Australia late last spring, right after my father died.  He questioned me about you, Krystina, and about your family.  He knew about what my father and I had been accused of doing years ago, courtesy of good old Uncle Blake, and if I didn't do.......'business'.......with him, he threatened to use that false evidence to have me sent to prison.  So, since I also had an ax to grind, I told him everything about what you and Blake Carrington did to my father.  Even though the evidence was fake, he said he would still use it to send me to prison if  I didn't help him.  He knew some other things about my past.....my........rather checkered past."

"You mean your criminal past,"  says Bum.  "It wasn't that hard for me to find, either."

"Yeah.  This man, he wanted me to come here and blackmail Krystina.  Not really for the money, that was a bonus for me.  But for him, he just wanted me to cause as much trouble as possible for you, Krystina, and your husband. He wanted John Ross distracted, and a wedge driven between the two of you."

"Who, Trevor?"  Krystina angrily asks, looking her cousin in the face.  "Who dug you up and brought you to Dallas to do this to me?"

"A guy named Brad Stone,"  replies Trevor, much to the shock of John Ross and Krystina, who exchanged looks of surprise upon hearing Trevor's revelation.

"Stone?"  John Ross asks.  "Brad Stone hired you to come here and do this?"

"That's right.  That guy hates you with a passion."

"Bum.........get this piece of garbage out of my sight,"  John Ross orders.

"Alright, let's go, Carrington,"  Bum says, forcing Trevor out of the apartment.

"Brad Stone,"  Krystina says angrily.  "Brad did this to me.  That......that SON OF A BITCH!!!  Why?  Why would he wanna hurt me this way?"

"Stone obviously was usin' you to get to me,"  John Ross says.  "And for that, I'm gonna make that bastard pay.  I'm gonna destroy him, Krystina.  And anybody who gets in my way."

"And I wanna help."

"No.  Darlin', I won't let you get caught up in my war with Stone and Barnes again, not while you're pregnant."

"I'm not a China doll, John Ross,"  Krystina says.  "Brad Stone has crossed a line by threatening my father's memory. We're gonna take him down together, and I know someone who can help us."

John Ross looks at his wife and nods.

Ewing Oil....

Justin and Pamela are walking around some newly renovated office space on the Ewing Oil floor of Renaissance Tower in Dallas that afternoon.

"Well, babe, what do ya think?"  Justin asks.

"I love it. I absolutely LOVE it,"  Pamela replies.

"Yeah, it's still gonna take another few weeks or so to get the renovations finished and everything set up, but, I think this will be the perfect space for Ewing Records.  And, we're right down the hall from Ewing Oil."

"Oh, joy,"  Pamela says, sarcastically.

"Is that gonna be a problem for you, darlin'?  Workin' that close to a comp'ny you use to own part of?"

Pamela looks at him and smiles. "Not at all.  This new company that you've made me a part of, Ewing Records, signifies a new beginning for both of us."

"Yes it does.  And I can't wait to get started.  I wanna make Ewing Records as huge as the big boys one day.  We may even become bigger than Capitol Records."

Pamela laughs.  "Well, no one can ever accuse you of not being ambitious."

"Well, I'm a Ewing, and ambition is in the blood," Justin says.

"And ya know what?  I like that in you.  And unlike John Ross, you don't allow your ambition to be the driving force of your life.  You don't put success before everything else."

"I hope I never become like that,"  Justin says, putting his arms around her.

"You WON'T, because I'm not gonna let you.  Besides, you are too good a person to be consumed by your ambition. I think that's one reason I love you so much.  You're ambitious, but you know where the draw the line."

"That wasn't always the case.  But, you've made me a better person, Pamela.  You and the kids........you've given me a new lease on life.  I know that sounds cliche, but it's true.  When I found out about Jimmy and Amanda, I was devastated.  I was so hurt.  I was angry, and bitter, and out for revenge, and I thought my life was over.  But then you came along, and made me know what love felt like again."

"You did the same for me,"  says Pamela.  "And I can't tell you how much it means that you made me a part of this new company."

"I can't think of anyone else I'd rather have as a partner, both in business.........AND pleasure,"  Justin says, kissing her.  After a few seconds, he looks at her and smiles.  "You know what I wanna do right now?"

"What?"

"Make love to you."

"Well, what are we waiting for?  Let's get home."

"No, I don't think I wanna wait."

Pamela smiles.  "You mean.....right here on the floor?"

"Sure, why not?  We have a nice canvas over there in the corner, and since today is Saturday, no one else is on this entire floor, so, there's no chance we'd be interrupted."

"Okay, well, I say it again.......what are we waiting for?"  Pamela asks with a smile.  She places her hand on the back of Justin's head and pulls him into a passionate kiss.

Escondido, California....

Adam Reed paces anxiously around the motel room he and his family are staying, while his wife Jennifer and young Jacob look on.

"Adam, would you please stop that pacing?"  Jennifer asks her husband.

"Jennifer, just shut up and let me think,"  Adam says.  "I think better when I pace.  Somehow, we have to find a way to get out of this town.  Out of the state before the cops find out where we are."

"Mom, what's going on?"  Asked a frightened Jacob.  "Why is Dad so upset?"

"Nothing for you to worry about, Jacob,"  Adam says.

"But why did we have to leave home?  Why are we HERE, in this place?"  The boy asks.

"Jacob, I SAID for you not to worry!"  Snaps an angry Adam.  "Look, both of you just SHUT THE HELL UP AND LET ME THINK!"

"But, Dad......."

"YOU DON'T LISTEN!"  Adam yells as he slaps the boy across the face.  "Jacob, I'm telling you......not another word from you.  Not one peep, understand?"

The little boy looks at the man and nods, a look of fear on his face.

"Was that absolutely necessary?"  Jennifer asks, walking over to Jacob.

"If you don't shut your mouth, you'll get the same thing,"  says Adam.  He walks to the window, pulls back the curtain and looks out.  "Damn it," he says, spotting a police car across the street, an officer sitting in the car, appearing to be watching the motel.

"Adam, what is it?"

"Cops.  Across the street.  They're watching us."

"How can that be?  How could they have found us?"

"They're COPS, Jennifer, that's how.  Somehow, we have to get out of here."

"Mom, is this because of that lady?"  Jacob asks.  "That lady you said was my real mother?"

"Shhhh, sweetheart,"  Jennifer tells the child.  "It's gonna be okay.  Just be quiet and let Daddy think."

Meanwhile, in the parking lot of a store across the street, a police officer sits in a patrol car watching the motel when another police car pulls up, followed by a black SUV.  Bobby, Ann, Christopher, Courtney, Mack, and another man wearing a suit get out of the SUV.  The first officer gets out of his car.

"Are they still in there?"  The man in the suit asks.

"Yes, sir.  They haven't come out of the room, but I did see someone looking out the window.  They're in room 14, on the end."

"So Reed knows you're here?"  Mack asks.

"Probably so."

"Okay, we know where the Reeds are, so let's move in,"  Christopher says.

"Not so fast, Mr. Ewing,"  the man in the suit says.

"Christopher, we can't just go bursting in there,"  Mack says.  "We have no idea what Adam Reed's state of mind is, or that of his wife, for that matter.  We also don't know whether or not he has a gun or any other type of weapon.  It's best we try and talk to him and get he and his wife to give themselves up."

"What if Reed hurts Jacob?"

"That's what we hope to avoid, Mrs. Ewing,"  the man in the suit says.

"So what do you suggest we do, Lieutenant?"  Bobby asks.

"Let's move in closer,"  replies the man in the suit.  "Let's get over to the parking lot of the motel.  There, we can try and talk the Reeds into coming out and giving themselves up.  Mrs. Ewing, we may even need you to speak to the Reeds.  As Jacob's mother, you can plead with them to let the boy go."

Courtney nods, then she, Christopher, Bobby, Ann, and Mack follow the lieutenant across the street to the motel.  Inside their room, Adam Reed sees the group approaching and begins to panic.  "Damn it.  It's her,"  Adam says. "Courtney Ewing and her husband, and the cops.  They're coming this way!"

Jennifer walks over to the window and looks out.  "Dear God, Adam, what are we going to do?  They're gonna take him.  They're gonna take Jacob away from us."

"As much as I don't want that to happen, right now I'm more concerned about what's gonna happen to us."

"What do you mean?"

"Jennifer, are you really that stupid?"  Adam asks.  "They'll arrest us for kidnapping."

"Kidnapping?"

"Yes.  Jacob isn't our legally adopted child.  But I won't let that happen.  I won't let them take him OR us!"  Adam rushes over to his bag on the floor beside the bed and unzips it.  Reaching in, he pulls out a hand gun.

Jennifer gasps at the sight of the weapon.  "Adam, my God, what are you doing with that?"

"Protecting my family,"  Adam replies, returning to the window.  He peeks out through the curtains.  A terrified Jacob runs over to Jennifer, who embraces the child.

"Mom, what's going on?"  Jacob asks.

"It's gonna be okay, baby.  I promise,"  Jennifer says in an attempt to comfort the young boy.

Outside, the Lieutenant takes a bullhorn and holds it to his mouth.  "ADAM REED," he says through the horn.  "THIS IS THE POLICE.  WE KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE WITH YOUR WIFE AND ADOPTED SON.  MR. REED, WE HAVE THE PLACE SURROUNDED.  YOU AND MRS. REED COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP."

Back in their room, Adam stands by the window, his gun drawn.

"REED!"  The Lieutenant calls again.  "COME OUT AND GIVE YOURSELF UP."

"NO WAY!!!"  Adam yells.  "YOU'RE NOT TAKING MY SON!!"

"Give me that thing,"  Christopher says, grabbing the bullhorn from the Lieutenant.  "REED, THIS IS CHRISTOPHER EWING.  LOOK, IT'S OVER, REED.  THERE'S NO PLACE YOU CAN RUN NOW.  GIVE YOURSELF UP, AND LET COURTNEY HAVE HER SON."

"Christopher, let me see that,"  Courtney says.  Christopher hands his wife the bullhorn.  "MRS. REED," she calls.  "PLEASE.  I KNOW YOU LOVE JACOB.  YOU'VE TAKEN CARE OF HIM.  BUT YOU KNOW IN YOUR HEART THAT THIS ISN'T RIGHT.  JENNIFER, IF JACOB IS IN THERE WITH YOU, HE MUST BE REALLY SCARED RIGHT NOW. I'M BEGGING YOU, LET JACOB COME OUT.  I KNOW YOU DON'T WANT HIM  HURT."

Back in the room, Jennifer looks down at Jacob, who is still clinging to her waist.  "Adam, we have to give up," she says in tears.  "It's no use.  Adam, PLEASE!  Jacob could get hurt."

Adam looks at his wife, then at the boy.  "I won't let that happen.  Jennifer, everything I've done.  ALL of this was for you.  Because you wanted a child so desperately.  Well, you've got one!"

"No, Adam.  It's true, I wanted a child more than anything......but not like this."

Outside, Mack takes the bullhorn.  "REED, MY NAME IS MACK McKENZIE.  I'M AN ATTORNEY, BUT I USE TO BE SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR AND A U.S. ATTORNEY.  IF YOU GIVE YOURSELF UP, THIS WILL GO A LOT EASIER ON YOU AND YOUR WIFE.  I'LL EVEN HELP YOU IN ANY WAY I CAN.  BUT IF YOU DON'T GIVE UP......AND IF YOU DON'T LET THE CHILD COME OUT AND BE WITH HIS BIOLOGICAL MOTHER, THEN I CAN PROMISE I'LL DO EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO MAKE SURE THAT BOTH YOU AND YOUR WIFE DO THE MAXIMUM TIME IN PRISON FOR KIDNAPPING AND CHILD ENDANGERMENT, AND ANY OTHER CHARGES I CAN COME UP WITH. SO WHAT'S IT GONNA BE, REED?  THIS CAN END PEACEFULLY, RIGHT NOW, OR IT CAN END VERY BADLY FOR YOU AND YOUR WIFE."

Back inside the room, Jennifer holds Jacob close to her as they both cry.  Standing at the window, still holding his gun, Adam Reed turns and looks at his wife and Jacob.  Realizing that he has no way out of this, Adam also begins to cry.

"REED, YOU HAVE TWO MINUTES!"  Mack yells to him.

Jennifer gently sits Jacob down in a chair next to the bed and walks over to her husband.  "Adam, please," she says in tears.  "We can't go on.  It's over.  It's over and we've lost."

Adam looks at her, tears in his own eyes.  He nods.  "Take the boy and go," he says.

"What about you?"

"I'll be out right behind you."

"Jacob,"  Jennifer says, holding out her hand.  The little boy stands to his feet and walks over to her.  Jennifer takes him by the hand.

Adam looks down at the boy, feeling only resentment toward Jacob, blaming the child for all the pain that had been brought to he and hjs wife.  "ALRIGHT,"  Adam yells out to the police.  "JENNIFER AND JACOB ARE ABOUT TO COME OUT.  I'LL BE RIGHT BEHIND THEM."  Adam pauses a few seconds, then nods to his wife to proceed out of the room.  "Go," he says to her.

Jennifer kisses her husband, then slowly opens the door to the motel room.  As Courtney, Christopher, and the others watch, the door opens, and Jennifer and Jacob emerge from the room.  Courtney smiles with joy upon seeing her son coming out.  Jennifer and Jacob slowly walk toward them and are met by a uniformed police officer who escorts them over to a patrol car.

"REED, COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP!"  The Lieutenant yells to Adam as Jennifer is handcuffed.

The police officer escorts Jacob over to Courtney and Christopher.  The child looks at them skeptically.  Courtney embraces the boy as Christopher looks on.  Meanwhile, Mack and the police are concerned that Adam Reed hasn't come out of the room yet.

"REED!"  The Lieutenant calls again.  "COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP! THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE!"

As Christopher and the others look on, Adam Reed finally emerges slowly from the room, one of his hands by his side, as if concealing something.

"Okay, Reed, hands up,"  orders one of the officers, drawing his weapon.

"Let's get Jacob in the car,"  Bobby says.

As Courtney and Christopher are about to take Jacob over to the SUV, Adam quickly raises his right hand, pointing his gun directly at Christopher.

"DROP IT, REED!!!"  The officer yells.

"CHRISTOPHER!!!!"  Ann screams, seeing the gun pointed at her stepson.

Christopher looks up.  Seeing Reed pointing the gun, he immediately shoves Courtney and Jacob to the ground and makes a dive for them, in an attempt to shield them just as Reed pulls the trigger, the sound of a gunshot ringing out, immediately followed by the sounds of Courtney's and Ann's screams!!

Another great episode!! Thrilling to the end. So many different characters in this episode.

Can only see Trouble for Brad Stone; my heart breaks for poor Jimmy; Emma, not exactly sure what her angle is, yet. And this poor child, pulled from a home he knows even a family like this to have to go live with people he don’t know whether it’s the mother or father, scary for him.

Well can’t wait to see what happens next. Thanks John for working on this when you have had so much going on. I truly appreciate it!!

John: Your best episode EVER! F-ING AWESOME! Looks like one third of the Scumbag Trio is going down. You used my military secrets idea or what is it something I just had a lucky guess on. Whatever the case may be, I Love It! PLEASE.....let the someone that can help Krystina and John Ross be Patrick.

I always knew that Brad Stones little scheme was going to blow up in his face. It already blew up in Trevor Carringtons face, as I predicted it would. Now this dangerous power couple is going to take down Brad Stone together. I can't wait! John Ross gonna kick Brad Stone in his teeth, and Krystina gonna slap him so hard till it hurts because of what he made Trevor Carrington to do in emotional blackmailing her. Your days are as good as numbered Stone! I can't wait for the episode next week. I saw how this situation was going to go down from the beginning.

Plus, this one is personal because this is Krystinas late fathers company that we are talking about. OMG Brad Stone, you really are underestimating John Ross and Krystinas bond together. You have been trying to cause problems between them forever, but yet they are still standing strong. You really have crossed a line now. And as for Christopher, I hope he will be okay. That would suck if Christopher ended up dying. He has a good woman, a woman that I like, a beautiful stepson, and a family that loves him. He's got a lot going for himself. I think he will be alright. Overall, he has a pretty good life going on right now.

And I promise to God, one of these episodes, Emma Ryland is going to get exposed, and then Ann, Bobby, Lucas, and Heather, not to mention Richard Channing is going to be extremely hurt. But Alex is close to figuring out what's going on, and one more thing, Emma Ryland is a natural born schemer, and she does owe John Ross cause he did risk his life to save her while in New Mexico. And it was hell for her, cause she got raped while she was in New Mexico.

I so love Bum, he's such a great private investigator, and he's always going to have the Ewings backs. Glad to know that Trevor Carrington will NEVER bother Krystina again, and Bum, and this power couple will see to that. I bet when Trevor does not show up for Brad, he's going to wonder what is going on, and everything.

The Reeds need to be in jail for life for child abuse, child endangerment, and now attempted murder. Very impressive list Mr. Adam Reed. Hope Mack McKenzie, and his connections with the police allow them to throw the damn book at the Reeds as a couple.

    Derek Mathews (Friday, 08 December 2017 19:20)

I can almost hear Ann and Courtney's screams while I was reading this episode. I admit, I froze too when I saw that gun in Adam Reeds hand. Again, I hope that Christopher will be alright!

Hope CJ and Eric Love can have some kind of relationship with each other. It's crazy that neither of them knew what their mother was really like, because she was leading a double life. She was a woman of secrets, had an affair with Peter Love, and so on.

John, I absolutely LOVED this episode!! It was one of your best ever!
The CA Ewing connection w Knots Landing cast was a fantastic cross-over, especially for us older fans. Touching scene w Lucy and Val.
So glad Krystina told John Ross the truth finally. And, I saw a softer side to John Ross with his getting her to reveal her "secret." Then, of course, he went for blood after he discovered both Trevor and the real culprit, Brad Stone. Please let Brad get what's coming!
Lastly, the closing scene with Christopher diving to protect his family made me cry. Now promise me this will have a happy conclusion.....plus the Christmas Eve wedding is a fantastic idea!!!
Thank you for keeping this saga alive.

John: Again. F-ING AWESOME!!! I'd like to see Alexis go down in that military secrets plot. Maybe have some documents turn up that name her father as a member of the Clivedon Set during World War II and as the central figure in a plot to assassinate Winston Churchill. For the record, the Clivedon Set was a group of British aristocrats that sought to negotiate the U.K.'s surrender to Nazi Germany. Whatever the case may be, I am glad that one third of the "Scumbag Trio" - Brad Stone - is about to go down.
